"Next Question, How Do You Maintain Your Lustrous Head Of Hair?"

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Dangers of the Canadian Mounted.

As amusing as Muir treating these delusional softballs as "the real journalism that people should be doing" this is all the fairly typical phenomena of a person who has found themselves doubting their faith attempting to double down on it to make the questions go away.

It rarely works.

Muir Insists Up Is Now Down, And Always Has Been.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Son of Zorro.

Interesting bit. Even though I commented on how Muir was quietly reiterating that he is true-true for now last time, I have to note that Jo/Trump's list of "accomplishments" aren't quite the same this time. I suspect most of this is the developing situation--Muir is as eager to declare victory as Trump, but much less able to--and some is Muir's developing oddities.

Right, Forget What We Said Earlier, This Is The Actual Brilliant Plan.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Federal Operator 99.

The Gnostic reality shifts and Muir insists this shows how clever he is, as he sneers at alliances, sneers at Congress, and imagines that this boondoggle is somehow going to be a cost-saving measure.

This is simultaneously creepy and sad.

Soon, They'll Add The Reverse Vampires To The Evil Conspiracy Of Evil.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Tiger Woman.

As we stare at this pile of gibberish masquerading as an explanation, I have to note that this has the sort of desperate feel of those 2007-08 strips where Muir would reaffirm that he still trusted Dubya, yep, yep. Just with an extra layer of cray-cray on top.

"Of Course, Of Course! Now It All Makes Sense! It Was The Archon Sabaoth From The Domain Of Mars!"

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Captain America.

...

It says something that even when Muir entertains a delusional Gnostic-style reality behind reality that turns strategic idiocy into some greater plan, doubts about Trump creep in. The simple fact is, once you start suspecting you've been had, it's hard to stop suspecting that.

No matter how many crazy theories about the UK you start entertaining.

Is There A Space Warp In Their Car That Makes The Front Seat Do... That?

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Dick Tracy's G-Men.

As the interminable car drive continues, Zed goes all in on painting a series of ill-advised moves as foreign policy triumphs, doubtless based on dim-witted spin pieces from the Wingnut Welfare Circuit. Muir can by this because he really does think that bullying and cruelty are signs of power and thus will buy anything telling him what he wants to believe.

She's Demoralized Because She's Been Raised To See Good As Evil, And To Want Terrible Things.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Three Musketeers.

Eva's problem of course is that she's typical of the hivemind--deluded, stupid, bigoted, weak whiny, with the underpinning that she views all these manifest flaws as signs of how clever she is. This is a growing issue for the cast, I'd argue--they spend ever larger amounts of time blubbering about how unfair everything is while simultaneously insisting that they are as tough as nails. A part of me can't help but think that even Muir is starting to have problems writing around his present state of ideological cringing when joined with the ever-present bluster.

If They Go After Billionaire-Backers Of Racist Militias, Why, Who Might Be Next?

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because can you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

Obviously, the first part is Muir's distorted understanding of hate speech laws. That said, let's be honest--Portago is fucking scum who deserves to get his funds frozen, a man with ties to Putin and other international scuzzes that Muir now admires, who regularly does illegal shit for the main cast. To those outside the bubble, Muir's little attempt at drama looks like justice finally falling from on high.

Of course, then we have Captain Mitty's upcoming revelation, and while much of this is cheap drama that I expect to end in 'Nothing happens', I'd argue there's a clear hint at something in all this--Muir, at some deep level, understands that he's written the setting into a very dreary corner. The cast is for all intents and purposes all-powerful and untouchable. Muir is actively having to strain to come up with new threats as the Compound has gradually shifted from Zed's redoubt against a treacherous world into the center of Muir's dream Texas, a place treated by those around it as the natural rulers that he so clearly sees them as. The desire to shake things up and start fresh so that they can face actual long-term threats is natural.

Will he do it? Probably not. As we saw with the robots, Muir lacks the resolve to let go of his toys. But there's a part of him that's entertaining it, and that is, at least, interesting to watch in the abstract.

"We Are Totally Winning All Things, Because We Have To Be! We're Assholes!"

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Cambria cannot yield.

As Muir once again fantasizes that his cast are besties with his version of Trump, we see him vaguely comment on the tariff policy, which cements that Muir doesn't understand tariffs, as he seems to think that foreign nations pay them, instead of... well, companies that import things and ultimately, the consumer.

But then, it's blustery and mean, so Muir is certain it has to work.

"They Are Of The Cathedral!"

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Make Me a Perfect Murder.

...

I won't lie, there's something hilarious about Trump's Anglophile tendencies, one of the most harmless aspects of personality, being what absolutely sets Muir off.

Clearly The Most Important Thing Trump Has Done.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Murder Under Glass.

A reminder you can never tell just what will set Muir off. That said, I do think part of what's fueling this is an underlying disappointment with how things have gone. He expected triumph, and all he's gotten is a mess. Even DOGE is slowing down now, largely because it keeps stepping on rakes.

Would Moscow Lie To Her?

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Last Salute to the Commodore.

Watching Muir parrot the Kremlin's talking points, right down to the traditional Russian paranoia about the UK, sure is a thing.

Welp, Now He Has To Draw A Black Woman As Hitler Again...

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Now You See Him...

You know, I always knew this day was coming, the day when Muir more or less announced that he now viewed WWII as a mistake. I just thought he'd underline it a bit more instead of more or less flippantly tossing it out there.

Easing Himself Back Into It, It Seems.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Greenhouse Jungle.

The irony of the man who was calling everyone else a GigaChamberlain during Iraq going full 'This is all happening in distant places of which we know nothing" over a fascist invasion continues to be biting.

And Lyndon Larouche Nods From Hell.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Otto Graham.

There's something deeply amusing about the man who used to swear we needed constant wars against the foreign hordes reciting the tankie's catechism these days. Though as Larouche demonstrated, that line has a way of shifting from the glorious truth of the Real True Left to a reactionary rant in very little time.

Now Supporting Skinheads.

It's the Day's Day of Days!  Because awkward segue.

And the side effect of Muir's freebasing ever more extreme news substitutes--now he's pledging his support to a British white supremacist.
