It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Adventures of Rex and Rinty.
It's funny how the Robot Sex Issues have developed issues on top of issues. A horrible sort of funny, mind you.
A day by day look at Chris Muir's Day By Day, punctuated by efforts to make the hurting stop.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Adventures of Rex and Rinty.
It's funny how the Robot Sex Issues have developed issues on top of issues. A horrible sort of funny, mind you.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because The Kidnap Murder Case.
Muir is saying this in a situation where the Republicans hold both branches of Congress. Because even their present disgraceful obsequiousness isn't enough, and the fact that they could lose in the near future has to be some sort of plot. Because Muir knows if the things he supports don't work, it's because of treachery, and if his side loses the election, the other side cheated. Or shouldn't have been allowed to vote in the first place.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Belgian Butter Waffle Crisps.
There's something to be said about Muir's ability to do a self-own at times like this. He really thinks this sounds patriotic and folksy, instead of like a redneck Nazi.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because A School Story.
Muir's ability to turn everything he reads into proof that we need more reactionaries in power is most certainly a thing.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because to the House.
You know the fact of how extraneous Damon and Jan feel to the strip these days tends to be balanced out by how awful they are. And not even an interesting awful like Zed, Sam and the hellspawn. Just a smug, dull awful most of the time.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
It's kind of sad how this what Jan and Damon have been reduced to. Making the occasional bad joke over whatever paranoid online drivel Muir has become obsessed with at the moment, just to remind you they're in the strip.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because do you think she's swimming in your lies?
...The smug bigotry mixed with the assumption that naturally one of them can't be a competent pilot is just contemptible.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because everybody's gotta live.
Ahh. I see Muir's praising dangerous Right wing loons foreign and domestic again.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because another fine mess.
The noteworthy tendency of Muir to fall in love with the aesthetics of shows and movies while missing their point continues.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because oh.
As I keep noting, there is something almost impressive of what a hash he's made of the entire Gunpowder County plotline, where the secession seems to have been completely forgotten for months, until it is suddenly a thing again.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Miami Connection.
This is almost the prototypical strip of this era--Sam and Jan, in two virtually unconnected panels, sneering at the failures of the imaginary version of the government which have only occurred because Muir wrote them, and implying the Chinese government controls Biden, all while looking like very bad pinup art.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Christopher Walken is McBain.
So... as yesterday's... oddness... continues, let's consider that this supposed to be a parade float that somehow got airborne and traveled from the Texas-Mexican border to Washington, DC thanks to hot air.
There's just so much wrong with this. I mean, fractally wrong.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because a distinct smell of Yorkshire pudding.
The tortured explanations of how being absorbed into the hivemind is the truest form of liberation have moved beyond ridiculous into creepy.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Stranger to Himself.
It show both how much Muir and the Peanut Gallery are still mad that a Black man got to be President that he's pulling this awfulness out, AND how wrapped in their toxic bubble they are that they think it's funny.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Dracula 1931, Spanish Version.
A reminder that Sam, who so glibly nods along at the declaration that the government are all impure degenerate traitors, was when last we checked running her little redneck county as an independent nation with horny monopoly money as the currency.
But then, Muir seemed to get bored by that whole storyline, so who knows if it's still true?
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Clash City Rockers.
As Muir trots out the Yellow Peril nonsense about Mitch again, (and yes, this strip is so bad that it makes me defend Professional Awful Person Mitch McConnell) I find myself instead staring at the hideous monstrosities that Jan and Damon become in the second panel. The combination of Jan's Howler Monkey Face, and Damon's increasingly common lapse into what appears to be a gelatinous state makes it look like the pair are blobs trying to badly mimic the human form.
Which is pretty much the case, when you think of it.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Meyer lemons.
Muir's ability to feel self-righteous about this even as he makes his terrible pinups only gets worse as the years go on.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because the Equals.
This kind of underlines what an incoherent mess the strip's evil leftists are--they can go from being hypocritical elitists who only serve wealth to weak-minded idealists who eagerly serve minorities because they don't understand the importance of being racist.
Sometimes in the same strip.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Powell and Pressburger.
As Muir once again indulges in his dream of a reactionary bloodbath that will set everything right, somehow, it's hard not to note how tired this all is. The same stock Nancy and Mitch, Jan and Damon being awful, and the reminder that the infinite money font they've got works through the same authorial fiat that all his characters operate under. They are rich not because of what they do--which is waste money on bad investments--but because Muir wants them to be rich.
It's the Day's Day of Days! Because A Canterbury Tale.
Muir is that little guy at bars who always insists he could take the big guys in a fight, easy.
While never actually getting into a fight, because, well, that would mean shattering that illusion, and he can't have that.
