There's a reason that Republicans have to play the internal resistance of the government to their increasingly lawless stance as a malignant conspiracy--to admit the truth would be to cast themselves as a disease in the body politic, and once you admit that, you start having to reconsider things.

And so we see Chuck Schumer painted as a Nazi, because, sure, why not.
