It's the Day's Day of Days! Because don't try to run, I can keep up with you.
There's a bleak fascination in how in the middle of a crazy racist conspiracy theory, Muir continues to conflate unregistered migrant workers with refugees. He peddles different strands of misinformation at the same time.
And there is also bleak fascination in watching the outrage of the peanut gallery over all this supposed wealth the migrants are receiving.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the real refugee population would be surprised to hear about just how high on the hog they are supposedly living.
On another not entirely off-topic note, after spending a couple of years reading the DBD peanut gallery pontificate about the Civil War, and how it was really about the North wanting to oppress the South, it was sadly amusing to then have a presidential candidate echo those comments. Although I can't say I was shocked.
Bleak fascination indeed.
DeleteI have to wonder who starts these narratives, anyway. And why. I mean, the people who originate these lies KNOW that they're lies, therefore they know migrants and illegals pose no real economic threat, and are not living high on the hog at taxpayer expense. So why start the lies, then? Simple racism? I guess? I don't know.
(Well, if they're anything like Stephen Miller, the answer is yes, and that's as complex as it gets.)
Speaking of the Peanut Gallery. How many times can one invoke "strange fruit" imagery without getting bored? For real. Are these guys actually BDSM kinksters who get their rocks off at the mere mention of strangling/asphyxiation?
