A day by day look at Chris Muir's Day By Day, punctuated by efforts to make the hurting stop.

You can always distract yourself with the fact that the Begging Bowl is running off the rails again.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. How can it keep having these silly problems every year? I know absolutely nothing about doing things like this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this was incompetence fueled by needless, avoidable ignorance.
DeleteAfter all, neither he nor anyone in the Peanut Gallery seems to have heard of Patreon.
While I've little doubt the donations will pick up eventually, I won't lie, there's a part of me worried that my prophecy might come true, as I'm only a few days away from an announcement...
DeleteWhich prophecy?
DeleteBy the way. Until I looked at this year’s Begging Bowl, I had no idea Muir has this other series running — “Holy Tera”. Naturally, I had to check it out.
First, it wasn’t easy to find. For some reason, Google didn’t feel like cooperating. But when I did find it, holy hell, what a mess. Arkhaven Comics is the hosting platform, and it’s a trainwreck. It doesn’t function well at all, at least not on my mobile Chrome. The navigation buttons keep disappearing and only come back by refreshing the page — sometimes more than once. The setup is confusing and doesn’t flow well at all. It wasn’t even clear to me where one chapter ended and another began because the navigation was so muddled.
So how was the comic? I don’t know, because I was too busy trying to figure out the site to even read the damned thing!
But Arkhaven Comics is, I was not surprised to learn, specifically dedicated to right-wing and reactionary creators.
How bad is it? Stonetoss is published there. That’s how bad.
Wait, so it's actually possible to find and read Holy Tera somewhere for free? That's somewhat amusing, as Muir is making his followers donate for access to just one chapter.
DeleteAhh, the second spinoff attempt that was paused.
DeleteArkhaven Comics is one Teddy Beale, alias "Vox Day" interminable Right-Wing vanity presses trying to pretend they're glorious projects. That Muir's moved the spinoff there is unsurprising, though whether it will stay up is anyone's guess.
Beale's projects tend to crash, then limp away while pretending they're boldly striding for a while.
Jeesh, Vox Day. Now there’s a guy you don’t hear much from anymore. He seems to be primarily a creature of the immediate pre-Trump era.
DeleteOn that note, Roosh V. Whatever happened to THAT freak? It almost feels like those early manosphere pioneers got left in the dust because they were —sadly— a little too successful in terms of shaping the zeitgeist, and now they almost seem quaint.
Beale's the cockroach of his generation of Right-Wing asshole. He keeps scuttling along, even when others have fallen to the wayside, and so even if he's no longer quite as popular as he was, he's still got a scam going.
DeleteAs for Roosh V--he got tossed off a lot of platforms, ruining his hustle, after which he got Jesus, first in Armenian Apostolic and then in Orthodox form, both of which are popular in the Right-Wing Asshole sphere.
@Eurobrat
ReplyDeleteI think what they’d be paying for is a print collection. But is the story even complete enough for a book?
(Well, I don’t know, because reading it means committing to wresting with that clunky site again. 🙄)
I can't imagine Muir having enough attention span to create anything complete enough for a book...but...maybe that's what it is? I've mostly seen the Peanut Gallery talk about getting access to special downloads (or not getting it, as I don't think they were always working). So who knows?
DeleteI've managed to sort things out somewhat, though as you say, that site is ugly as shit and a great deal less useful. The 'Holy Tera' strips are even MORE batshit variation of the Second Spinoff attempt, albeit cutting down that opening section so he can get to the actual story. They're shit, they're crazy, and he's only got 18 of them up.
DeleteAnd these are not long strips. So, yes, I'd say this is all classic 'fool and his money' stuff from Muir.
Okay...I tried Arkhaven Comics. Couldn't find Holy Tera, unfortunately glanced at a story called The Great Transformation which was so. Incredibly. Creepy. That I ended up backing away from the website and deciding it's not worth it to poke that any further.
