Yet More Of THIS!

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because King of the Circus.

...

I assume somebody paid to have this be their cameo in the strip.

...

...

That apparently is what we're looking at here.

...

...

...

The mind boggles.

  1. Okay, “junk science” got a chuckle out of me.

Doesn’t make this fetish any less weirdly done to death, though.

    1. It absolutely does have the raw material to be a funny punchline.

The problems (beside what you just noted about how this entire damn fetish storyline is dragging on) are we have to wade through THAT strip to get it, and the delivery is... well, Sam saying 'Ready fer some junk science fer your junk, Jeff?'. That not only ruins the joke on its own, it just puts Sam's unbearable personality and redneck pretensions front and center which make it nails on chalkboard in my book.

    2. The redneck stuff is such a weird tack to have taken. Like, we KNOW Sam is not a redneck. We know she was an urban professional. It’s so forced.

At least Kiko and Mari have the excuse of having actually grown up on a Texas ranch, though as kids they were never shown to have much of a social life, so where’d they absorb the silly redneck shtick from?
The bright side is at least they’ve finally picked a lane after straddling “redneck” and “1930s comic strip kids” for a few years. (Talk about picking your poison. The latter was creepily infantilizing, but to me the former is more outright annoying.)

Notably (correct me if I’m mistaken) Zed — the actual ostensible ranchER who supposedly learned everything from his late father — doesn’t seem to have adopted the affect himself. Perhaps Muir only finds it hot when women talk like that.

    3. Augh. Hate it when I comment as Anonymous by mistake.

    4. Hilarious note--I only realized on review that the woman speaking is Kiko, which is not only a damning indictment of his cast consisting of numerous characters who are all but identical in appearance and behavior, it's a sign of how terrible he is with continuity, as every other strip in the mini-storyline involves Sam.
