This is what Muir produces when he tries to imagine a master race. Obnoxious, repulsive racists convinced of their own superiority, and easily persuaded that the bloody purge is coming any day now. Kiko fails as a sympathetic character on every level. She's not just a clumsy propaganda piece, she's such a horror that anyone outside the racist bubble wants her to lose.
The evolution of the twins from mostly silent prop-children to mildly sarcastic young teens to underage-yet-infantilized sex objects to faux-innocent adult sex objects to raging reactionaries to fill-blown genocidal white supremacists — all in the space of less than a decade — has been both dizzying and morbidly fascinating.
ReplyDeleteMmm-hmm. To be fair, Kiko is the one who generally spouts the genocidal filth, using her lost love as an excuse. Mari is simply a nasty bigot, albeit one who seems to tacitly support her sister's murderous awfulness.
