So... if I'm getting Smith right here... he's saying that the events of 9/11 didn't really effect the black community which has long seen itself as at the mercy of forces beyond their control, as deeply as the white community, which has long viewed itself as holding the cards. Now, that's arguable, and perhaps badly worded, but an interesting point, nonetheless.

But of course, it's letting the terrorists win.
