It's All Our Yesterdays! Because paladin!
Muir likes to see the world as divided into two teams--the goodie right, and the baddie left. However, he's also aware that the world doesn't quite work like this. Thus, he makes his liberal character the one baffled and upset at Maher's "betrayal" masking his own disappointment of a foe revealing complexity, and allowing him to mock his opponents for "their" unrealistic worldview.
Sometimes, I get bored just noting 'Muir sucks'.
