This Discussion Makes Them Want To Pose Like Strippers, For Some Mysterious Reason.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Jaqueline of Bavaria.

I know I keep harping on it, but the aimlessness of these last few strips really jumps out at you. Muir is rehashing the same old complaints, completely blind to how he is describing himself, the same way he's done a thousand times before. But there's no direction at the moment. He'll never admit it, but even Trump doesn't give him that sense of purpose that a Democratic White House does. With that, his cast are (he imagines) a plucky bunch of heroes facing the incompetent forces of evil. Without it, they become cheerleaders for something that never quite works out, no matter how often they insist that they're seeing the rebirth of American glory. And so we get this long series of strips that seem to have no particular point, as he tries to feel his way onto the next storyline.

  1. You are correct, and that is fascinating. I know that Muir would just find me an annoying commie activist, but I could find plenty of purpose with a Harris Walz White House. It would be purpose of a more uplifting sort, where there would be the potential to build things--unlike the situation we are in now, where I expect to spend the next four years attempting to push back and fight against destruction and rot (and no, I do NOT find that exciting).

Not to mention that, really, even with a Harris Walz White House there would be things to push back against--but then again, unlike Muir, I'm capable of seeing that my side has plenty of flaws, too.

    1. I think a part of it is, even though yes, he does believe this endless bullshit, there's a part of him, deep down, that knows it's not real, that the Evil Conspiracy of Evil is a game he plays to feel important and righteous, that when a Democrat is in power he's not actually going to be rounded up and put in a death camp.

Just as there's a part of him that knows, deep down, that this will turn. Remember, he's been here before. Hell, he started here--the old Mystery Business(tm) days were endless Dubya cheerleading, with countless declarations that all the Left's silly objections to his actions would be shown for the folly they were.
