It's levels of wrongness here that gets you, from the art that is awful on every level to the history that gets everything deliriously wrong (who knew that Andrew Jackson was communist?). It's as if Muir had to highlight just how badly he's degenerated in every way in one strip.
"Degenerated" is exactly right. The Muir of 2002 would never write stuff like this. It's the rantings of a deranged, delusional, developmentally-arrested lunatic.
ReplyDelete"Day by Day" really should be taught in psychology classes as a living, ongoing example of a man documenting his own descent into madness. Henry Darger had nothing on this guy.
Early Muir was still awful, yes, but the crazy he spat out was less... disordered. Things now border on the paranoid schizophrenic. The constant cycle of self-radicalization has done Muir no favorites.
