I still can't get over how--if you'll pardon the term--nakedly transparent this all is. As I've said before, Day by Day has quite literally been running day by day for 19 years, commenting on real events in real time. Nowhere into that equation is it plausible to fit in a time-skip or aging up of any characters. The only possible in-universe explanation would be that a witch cast a spell on them to suddenly age them about four years older than they should be, and I don't see any talk about witches.
