It's bleakly amusing that every time Muir has one of these little history "gags" he shows himself to be monstrously ignorant and well, exactly the sort of figure that people who study history know about--the arrogant, cowardly, and self-righteous fascist who imagines that his demands to be allowed to do whatever he wants are good, and his cowardice shows how brave he is.
