My suspicion is Muir moved this around so that Sunday's could be the big announcement of what this all means. Of course this all just underlines how much DbD Trump doesn't resemble actual Trump, so... yeah.

A cartoon vanished prior to my writing this, (which is why we have suddenly transitioned to them talking to Trump on the phone with no setup) because Muir wrote about releasing the Epstein files, just as everything happened. (And it was quite clear prior to this that we'd gotten two strips because Muir was hurrying to produce a new strip for the series which "proved" this was all lies.) He is having to adjust more and more for the reality of the second Trump admin, and it is breaking him.

What's fascinating in this strip is the clear feeling that Muir resents that spouting Nazi beliefs and proposing Nazi policy gets people from all over the political spectrum saying that he's a Nazi now.

You know, there are multiple levels of fail here... from Muir clearly feeling the people in general and women in specific should support the plan that would destroy their power to vote, to his supporting the system of the franchise that fell apart during the first generation. As Muir indulges in his usual anti-urban bullshit--those blue cities pay for their red states not the other way around--it really has to be emphasized that what's brought this on is losing the elections Tuesday. Muir has to explain that none of this matters and it's all pretend, because otherwise, he might have to admit that Il Puce's administration is being punched back by reality hard after only a year in. So screaming and self-genocide proposals. His usual bullshit, alas.

You know, this would always be a good example of Muir's being blind to how he ironically undermines his own statements, this huge helping of misogyny attempting to pretend that it's about protecting women's rights. (With that extra-helping of bigotry, of course--Mamdani, a man whose own Muslim wife certainly doesn't wear a hijab, much less a burka, is apparently going to make non-Muslim women wear the most conservative form of Muslim female garb, because that's just what Muslims do.)
But the proceeding plotline just further underlines how full of shit Muir is. Muir's the one who wants repression for women and views them as lesser. He only objects to Muslims doing it because they aren't his people. And he doesn't see that because he's completely incapable of self-examination.

There's something to be said in how this sloppy, sleazy strip that demonstrates Muir's inability to write the sex comedy he's so fond of with any skill is still a temporary relief from the damned fascist family drama plotline that's been going on.
Though we still get a reminder that the Compound's family dynamics are just weird and creepy.

"Welfare benefits are an addiction" ranks right up there with "Welfare is actually slavery" among the idiotic and frankly vile things Right wingers say to convince themselves they're the good guys, really.
