    Muir used to communicate intelligence. Ignorance and obtuseness, and eventually racist authoritarianism, but intelligence nonetheless.
    It seems to be drying up right in front of our eyes.
    He is getting so lazy, so shallow, and so STUPID.

    This is just stupid stuff. Almost at the level of a lame high schooler. I mean...it's embarrassing.

    It's more than that. He always had a sharp wit---one that could pass itself off as insight. That seems to have totally gone lately. He's just ranting like a desperate standup comic who's run out of material before a cold crowd.

      I wouldn't agree with your verdict of 'wit', but he used to at least be generally capable of using the classic gag-a-day comic format, even if he was never, in my mind, particularly skilled at it. But that fell apart over the tail end of the Obama administration and went further during the Trump years, so now his offerings are these incoherent messes at the best of times.
