Muir's adopted what I like to call the "ultracrank" take on the conflict, which is the property of those reactionaries whose Russophobia is so intense they're certain Putin is a communist. Somehow, this is all some massive leftist conspiracy. In Muir's case, his love of quasi-Gnostic "truths" leads him to denigrate the Ukrainians' efforts to defend their state while imagining he's on their side.
