If I didn't know better (and I definitely know better at this point) I would almost surmise that Sam's dejected demeanor here represented Muir's long-suppressed sanity and inner doubts about his misogyny briefly breaking through.
ReplyDeleteBut more likely it's simply Muir taking the opportunity to humiliate Sam, a character he normally treats as a voice of "reason," simply because she woman and Zed man.
Yeah, the expression is really off--Zed is complimenting her, after all, but she looks like she's just got word that the family pet is dead.
DeleteOf course, Muir being Muir, it might be that this was the Stock Sam Expression he had ready at hand that fit.
What I find interesting about his use of stock poses is that he’s gone through three or four distinct eras of different sets, and there wasn’t much overlap between them.
ReplyDeleteYeah, when he shifts "art styles", he seems drop all the older stuff, and build up a new set of stock poses.
