The Danger Of Anti-War Movies Is The Fash Miss The Point.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because I love that dirty water.

Of course, in the film, the President is implicitly Muir's sort of person, but that doesn't matter. He just wants to see the Nation burn.

For he is such an unvarnished patriot.

  1. When I first saw the trailer for this months ago, I dismissed it as exploitative schlock made by people who either deliberately or out of ignorance were creating a future dystopia completely divorced from political realities (California and Texas united??). So I'm quite unnerved to see that it's gotten excellent reviews.
Because frankly, WE DON'T NEED THIS SHIT RIGHT NOW.
Some might disagree and say that stories like this actually need to be told at a moment like this, but I don't see it that way. I might feel differently if the film at least reflected the actual specific political realities that might lead to a nightmare future like that, but Hollywood would never, ever go there. So instead this feels pointless to me from a standpoint of social commentary. Except, perhaps, to make anyone already worried feel even worse.
