It's the Day's Day of Days! Because George Montgomery.
It's not just the sheer laziness of the construction of this strip that gets me, it's lie at the heart of it. This is a crime that does not happen.
Oh, plenty of women get their drinks roofied. But not like this, not by mysterious strangers doing it for nebulous reasons that will doubtless be revealed as their inherent degeneracy. No, it is the crime of men who know their victims, at the very least a little. Entitled men, whose philosophy and gender politics are often very much like Muir's.
But of course, Muir's going to pretend otherwise. We're going to get another heaping helping of the man's projection.

Okay, so I totally thought the girl in the red dress was Kiko. This is what happens when you use the exact same face for your characters. Either this is me getting older, or this strip is even more of a confusing mess than it used to be. I totally don't get the "always an out" thing. Is that supposed to be a sports reference...?
ReplyDeleteNo, I think it's more Kiko leaving allows Mari to get another drink. But it's a bad punchline.
DeleteAnd yeah, Muir's been making them hard to identify recently, hasn't he?
Notice he’s tagged this one under “progressives”.

Again, always projecting.
