If They Go After Billionaire-Backers Of Racist Militias, Why, Who Might Be Next?

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because can you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

Obviously, the first part is Muir's distorted understanding of hate speech laws. That said, let's be honest--Portago is fucking scum who deserves to get his funds frozen, a man with ties to Putin and other international scuzzes that Muir now admires, who regularly does illegal shit for the main cast. To those outside the bubble, Muir's little attempt at drama looks like justice finally falling from on high.

Of course, then we have Captain Mitty's upcoming revelation, and while much of this is cheap drama that I expect to end in 'Nothing happens', I'd argue there's a clear hint at something in all this--Muir, at some deep level, understands that he's written the setting into a very dreary corner. The cast is for all intents and purposes all-powerful and untouchable. Muir is actively having to strain to come up with new threats as the Compound has gradually shifted from Zed's redoubt against a treacherous world into the center of Muir's dream Texas, a place treated by those around it as the natural rulers that he so clearly sees them as. The desire to shake things up and start fresh so that they can face actual long-term threats is natural.

Will he do it? Probably not. As we saw with the robots, Muir lacks the resolve to let go of his toys. But there's a part of him that's entertaining it, and that is, at least, interesting to watch in the abstract.
