    I wonder if Muir's followers are ever going to let go of the conceit that there are still any "progressive" or "liberal" or even "Democratic" characters left in this strip (except for Xir). The peanut gallery still regularly refers to Skye and Jan as "progs" and "libs," even though they both sound like mouthpieces of right-wing media.

      That's because Muir completely lost what contact with reality he once had that formerly enabled him to write progressive characters that, to him, were sympathetic. The further he descended into crazy, the more intolerant and closed-off his mind became.
