    I spent part of last evening (while in bed, knocked out by booster side effects) reading that Atlantic article about how Jan 6 was just practice and there is a violent right-wing movement building up, with the potential of overthrowing democracy.

    And of course, what is the first thing I see right after that but this strip, which is literally about an elected official getting shot. (And yes, I can see they're getting shot with a tranquilizer? vaccine? which is mostly Chris Muir covering his ass just in case.)

      As I've seen pointed out elsewhere, what unites lunatics like this is a ceaseless sense of persecution and victimhood. They're able to perform the mental gymnastics necessary to oppress others while believing those same people are oppressing THEM, and they're quite happy to engage in violet "resistance" if necessary.

    Remember, as Muir has demonstrated, it's easy to call yourself persecution when you consider anytime you don't get your way, and any obligations under the social contract persecution.
