You know, Right Wingers imagining their impossible bubble kingdoms fueled by impossible magical technology that exists because freeing themselves from the pathetic limitations of decadent liberal thought and practice will let innovation flow and break the laws of physics is nothing new--Ayn Rand has it show up in Atlas Shrugged. Muir is just especially artless about it. And that says something, because this always a ham-fisted thing when it shows up, an ignorant and arrogant declaration of superiority that imagines it loves science and knowledge while actually denigrating it.
