A day by day look at Chris Muir's Day By Day, punctuated by efforts to make the hurting stop.
"I love that you listen to my views and protect me."The most uncomfortable thing about this strip isn't Jan's combination of self-deception and regressive passivity, it's the fact that apparently for Damon, statements like that function as an aphrodisiac.
As I note, the Damon-Jan "relationship" is one of the most icky things Muir regularly puts to paper, which says something. It's even worse than the Zed-Sam relationship, which is after all, essentially a glorified form of masturbation.
WHOA. Nailed it. It really is exactly that.
I've done this a while. You get insights. The fact is, Zed and Sam have always been an inseparable chunk of the cast, with Zed being the 'self-insert' and Sam being 'Zed, only younger and a hot woman'. Whatever backstory gets ladled on it doesn't change them. They are what they are, and that's all they're going to be.
