Is Muir on some level, even as he rants about the Deep State and evil conspiracies, admitting that Trump is... kinda dumb?
That's the problem of course. Figuring out what Muir feels about Trump is difficult, because he is so invested in the Trump Presidency that these moments of ambiguous admission tend to be followed by loud declarations of loyalty. It's hard to be sure how deep the uncertainty is under it all.

I mean, good god, they really don't know. They really have no idea what's been going on with this investigation. They've been insulated from almost all of it. All they're told are the bits that can be spun and distorted to look like a conspiracy. There's never been anything like this situation.

That's because it's not a mistake--it's a reference to 'Animal House', where "Bluto" Blutarsky rallies the Deltas with that speech. Of course, part of the point of it is that Bluto may be tons of fun and a man who won't quit, but he's also a moron.
