There are two things to take away from this. One is that for the Greenwalds and Reynolds of this world, none of their sucking up to the Right actually helps them, in part because for the Right, unless you totally buy their worldview, and declare that the riot wasn't a riot, well, you're just part of the evil conspiracy of evil.

The other of course, is the underlining of Muir's fascism. White supremacists and reactionaries rioting will never be seen by him as rioting, because to his mind they cannot. The public order exists to serve them and their cause, and when it does not, it is their right to attack it violently, to threaten its officers, and to destroy its buildings. Fascism does not create orderly societies--its creates criminal societies where the gang in charge acts as it pleases until it undermines the whole structure enough to bring it all down.
