"Of Course, We Both Know They're As Harmless As The Next Heavily Armed Private Militia!"

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because take to the sky with me!

There are two things that make Muir's objections to the security state risible. Firstly, as his protagonists' actions make boundlessly clear, he has no real objection to this sort of behavior, just the idea that it might be aimed at him. The hivemind runs Gunpowder and the Compound as de facto police states, spying and detaining those who oppose them whenever they wish.

The other of course is that the Compound has performed so many baffling illegal actions that there's no reason for the FBI to be acting like dimwitted heavies about this. They've killed people, threatened people, spearheaded a secession attempt, and have made nearly no effort to hide this. Talking about how they're going to have plant evidence on people who loudly shout their plans to break laws is... well, par for the course.
