It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Richard, Duke of York.
It says something that this entire conversation is now about a subject that never came up during it, and was never brought up prior to it.
Then again, Redneckistan continues to be the most baffling storyline/setting Muir's ever produced, so this shouldn't really surprise me.
Setting Muir's complete randomness aside, this is also another good snapshot of how the alt right views women and the idea of female power. I remember another one of those right-wing manfluencers talking about how women actually had the most power back when they had their traditional role in the domestic sphere, and how a smile from a woman could shift culture and civilization. This strip really echoes that idea--it's that old-fashioned "power behind the throne," possibly by seducing the man in question. I suppose it's a way to try to assure women that if the MAGA theocracy comes along, they will still have influence. Of course, women over thousands of years have painfully found out that this kind of power is, in the end, no real power at all.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly enough, this idea occurred to me, but ultimately, I'm just not sure. While Muir might be influenced by a growing discomfort with Sam's status in strip as a woman with actual power, it's hard to be certain about it. Ultimately, at the moment it's just more Gunpowder shenanigans.
