DeleteIn fairness that was pre-insanity DBD, which did possess a level of mainstream marketability before he just said fuck it and went hard on both the crazy and the porn.
DeleteThe guy who ran that now-defunct Tumblr retrospective even opened one of his later entries reflecting that people only familiar with current (2018) DBD would be surprised at the small amount of mainstream commercial visibility it did manage to achieve, including a supposed plan for it to feature on the front page of the 2004 GOP national convention website— though he was unable to determine if this had actually ended up happening. (Do you know if it did?)
I'll admit it was at least publishable in those days, but it was still a wretched piece of work that didn't deserve to be, and only was because of the eternal search for a Right Wing Doonesbury.
