Oh, You DOG, Muir. *Tired Eye Roll*

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because Baby Lemonade.

As we stare at that belabored attempt at porn and wit, it's worth noting that something I think we knew was going to happen eventually has happened. Muir has come up short by his largely self-imposed deadline. (I say "largely" partially because I assume Muir has some bill to pay that has to be paid at a certain date, and partially because I suspect Muir organizes it this way based on some bizarre pseudo-legal nonsense that he's learned from his fellow crackpots.) Only a little short, so it's probably not going to have any real effect this time, but the fact remains--Muir's entire business model involves hitting up his tiny dedicated audience of cranks for this yearly thing, and, well, it's been quietly apparent for some time that they've been slowly, but steadily diminishing. Each year it takes a little longer to fill the kitty, and each year Muir keeps noting that they're behind last year. We might be heading to the end of the line, is what I'm saying.

Or maybe not. Only time will tell.

  1. At this point, the fact that that this doofus doesn’t just use freaking Patreon like every normal content creator on the internet is starting to annoy me almost as much as the comic itself.

ESPECIALLY since the dorks who contribute are constantly bringing up the glitches, flaws, bugs, failures, hiccups and other problems that seem to plague every second of every step of this ordeal.

    Just.
    Use.
    Patreon.

    1. But isn't Patreon part of the evil deep state or whatever?

Also...yes. It'll be interesting to see how long this comic hangs on as the audience either leaves due to content which is too offensive even for them, or just dies of old age. I saw someone in the Peanut Gallery commenting about new readers finding the comic, and had to chuckle. Then again, does Muir absolutely need the donations to keep going, or could he just fund the comic himself?

    2. I assume it's a combination of a paranoid belief that things like Patreon are a sinister plot, some bizarre sovereign citizen-like nonsense about how to run a drive to avoid it showing up on his taxes or the like, and finally, Muir's tendency to want to keep doing things the way he's used to.

And yeah, I do think this might be what shutters the strip in the long run, assuming Muir doesn't shuffle off and go where the goblins go, below, below, first. He can, I suspect, make up the difference on his own for a while, but not indefinitely.
