Ah, Yes. Muir's Imaginary Muslim Invaders From... Mexico. Again.

It's the Day's Day of Days! Because bingo.

The Republican governor pseudo-revolt is pretty much par for the course--a lot of sound and fury pretending it's accomplishing something as Lincoln turns in his grave. The danger is that eventually one of the chuckleheads goes too far, which will likely get dealt with quick, yes, but also convince the yahoos these morons are riling up that now's the time to start.

It won't be the Next Civil War. Just the American Years of Lead. And that's bad enough.

  1. Peak Muir. He keeps jumping the gun like this. He'll make up a scenario completely out of his head and present it as if it's representative of what the real life situation on the ground is, in this case a Hamas terrorist being caught trying to sneak across the southern border. And disguised as a "migrant" at that.

The fever-swamp right always does this. Their heads are filled with lurid, morbidly paranoid fantasies about all these depraved savages pouring into the US via the Mexican border. Ideological distinctions between various "enemies" --- real or imagined --- don't exist. It's all just one big blob of savagery. Kind of like "Camp of the Saints".

    1. Yeah. It's fascinating that he's shifted it to the Islamic terror group of the day to the point that what little sense the idea ever had has vanished--Hamas is almost entirely based in the Levant and isn't even theoretically interested in this sort of thing the way Al-Qaeda and ISIL were.

The 'Camp of the Saints' comparison is dead on. It's worth noting that Raspail had his invading migrant horde coming all the way to the French Med from India--yeah, just wrap your head around how crazy that is--because he knew that if he had Algerian migrants act the way his imagined Indians do, readers would go 'wait, no, that's bullshit, Algerians aren't like that at all.'

    2. And even Al-Qaeda and ISIL/ISIS --- to the extent that it was ever likely that we'd see dangerous levels of infiltration -- sleeper terror operatives are far more likely to enter the US at legal entry points or arrive through visas than to try sneaking in.

Is it POSSIBLE that Hamas might start sending terror operatives here? Technically, sure, especially since the only reason Israel is able to continue what it's doing is our support, so of course a ton of anger is directed our way. I genuinely am worried about a resurgence of domestic attacks for that reason. But the idea that Hamas would actually start sending people way the hell over here, trying to sneak in for the purpose, just seems fantastical, even preposterous.
