There's really nothing new in Muir's insistence that Barack Obama is the secret shadow president, that immigration is a Democratic plot, and even that this compromises treason and thus makes what the cast does not treason. So I'll focus on the fact that Zed's response doesn't remotely follow from Sam's comment.
God, the lack of craft in this strip is just terrible.
The Peanut Gallery continues to disparage Obama as not very smart, but that's par the course on the right. Far more astonishing than that is their continued characterization of him as self-involved and narcissistic. That blows my mind more than anything else does. If Barack Obama is, as one of them once put it, "a narcissistic man child", what in God's holy name is Donald Trump?
ReplyDeleteTrump is not merely a narcissist. He is THE single most narcissistic human being that has ever existed in public life, in any culture, in any time. No other person has even come close. Even to simply apply the label "narcissist" to him feels wrong, because it does not begin to adequately convey the depth of his psychosis and the derangement of his behavior.
But Obama is the narcissistic man-child.
I simply cannot comprehend the mental acrobatics at work here. It's beyond belief.
Speaking of Obama, their ongoing obsession with "Big Mike" or "big mikey" continues apace in all its deluded grotesqueness. Just as they periodically dredge up the idea that Hillary Clinton will be trotted out as the Dem nominee, they cannot drop this insistent idea that Michelle Obama will be running, despite there being literally no evidence whatsoever that this is even a remote possibility.
Their relentless obsessing over the "puppetmasters" --- and earnest discussions and disagreements as to who those actually might be --- is only one particularly overt manifestation of their raging, throbbing paranoia.
I cannot begin to imagine what it is like to live in the world these people wake up in every day.
It's somewhat bleakly amusing that Michelle is either going to be the puppet of her husband, or is the real power, and also, actually a man. And sometimes both at once, because the point is that your enemies are wrongbad, and also that as many of your bigotries need to be fed at once as is possible.
