    On a related note, the extent to which Muir is trapped in a tightly sealed bubble of nonsense is laid bare by his (not for the first time) singling out of "virtue signalling" as one of the gravest and most immediate threats to the west.

    Think how terminally online someone would have to be to keep harping on that. (And also, well, stupid.)

      Yeah, that is peak Online Right Wing echo chamber right there. The closest equivalent in the Online Left is using the word 'neoliberal' as a snarl word, and that's an actual thing, just being misused and frequently applied so broadly that the actual meaning gets lost.

      Whereas 'virtue signalling' is pretty much declaring not being a racist ass is a conspiracy.
