It's the Day's Day of Days! Because A Deadly State of Mind.
This seems a good place to point out how abstracted Muir's gotten from the Trump administration. Nothing about Canada. Nothing about Greenland. Nothing about tariffs. Next to nothing about Ukraine. A few chuckles about all those fired federal workers--they're people Muir wants hurt, the swine--but even then, not much. He's already turning the Trump administration into an abstraction.
Exactly as you predicted, and exactly as he did the first time.
ReplyDeleteAnd with every administration, really. What policy did he ever comment on from '02 to '09? Outside of the Iraq War, which he was mostly parroting gobbeldygook about anyway, not much.
And with the Obama era, during which his and millions of others' brains officially broke, almost completely zilch, except for histrionic screaming about how the ACA was "modern day slavery" (and that was the LEAST hysterical take).
I really do wonder what his media diet actually specifically looks like on a day to day basis. Do ANY of his sources talk about policy and legislation? Ever? It's hard to imagine they do. Maybe I wasn't deep enough into the fever swamps but I can't remember any particular settled hysteria narrative about the Inflation Reduction Act, for instance.
He did a lot more in the older days of the strip, honestly. It was always shallow and biased, but it was there. As you noted, during the Obama years, he went over the bend, and he's been getting crazier year by year.
